Hul'qumi'num Treaty Group

Getting to 100%

2005

The Hul'qumi'num Treaty Group is a group of six First Nations on Vancouver Island who teamed up in 1993 to jointly negotiate a treaty with the governments of British Columbia and Canada. HTG members are:Chemainus First Nation, Cowichan Tribes, Halalt First Nation, Lake Cowichan First Nation, Lyackson First Nation and Penelakut Tribe.

In 2004, the HTG engaged graphic designer Jim Skipp to produce Getting to 100%, a booklet that would outline the Nations' shared histories, traditional territories and proptocols, and document the group's intended outcomes for the treat process. The booklet was intended primarily for HTG members but also to educate outside audiences. I wrote the book's content based on multiple interviews and research materials provided by the HTG. Download the booklet.
