Taku River Tlingit First Nation

Community Engagement & Communications Planning

2008

Taku River Tlingit First Nation is located in Atlin, a small community in Northern BC. TRTFN engaged Coppermoon Communications in 2008 to help create a cohesive communications strategy. The First Nation was facing some big decisions related to lands and resource management and had numerous challenges with communications and decision-making, both internally (amongst members) and externally (with the non-First Nation community and industry). Under the auspices of Coppermoon, Julie acted as lead consultant on the project.

In addition, we created and distributed surveys to determine community priorities and establish goals for moving forward. The resulting deliverables including a community visioning statement and comprehensive community plan, of which communications was a key component.
